Investlesprom foresters master Finnish technology of forest roads construction

 - Investlesprom company has over five million hectares of leased forest areas,- pointed out Fedor Grabar, executive director of JVC “Investlesprom” ‘s “Forest Resources” Division.- We have to construct hundreds kilometers of forest roads annually; according to 2012 plan - over 300 km. We need good roads, thus it is necessary for local specialists to master advanced processes of modern methods of construction. Keeping this in mind we concluded the contract with Finnish company “Center of “Tapio” forestry development”, in accordance with it this first step of consulting seminar is being held. We hope, that in the process of collaboration participants of the seminar managed to get to know colleagues’ experience. In future they will use temporary, financial, technical and personnel resources while constructing forest roads more efficiently.

The seminar was conducted by  “Tapio” company people- Mikko Leskel, expert in forest roads design and construction, and Ilppo Greis- forest melioration expert.    

The seminar provided not only discussion of forest roads construction issues but also application of knowledge and skills in practice. Every participant had the opportunity to make necessary measurements, fulfill table of quantities, make sound choice of a future road route , define soil quality and give proof of using appropriate building materials. By the result of 5-days intense combined activity the seminar participants formed technical requirements, estimated roadworks volume and expenditures, made ready a project draft of experimental forest road construction of 2,5 km length in Vytegra forestry JSC “Severlesprom”’s leased base. During experimental forest road construction the seminar participant will gather once more and supervise road-building, evaluate its quality, take part in finished parts of the road acceptance procedure and its documental registration.
