PPM “Kama” will start to produce LWC at the end of June

Start of operation of a new mill for manufacture of light-weight coated paper at OJSC PPM “Kama” is scheduled for the end of June. This information was provided to “Novyi Kompanjon” by the company’s press service.
At the beginning of June at PPM “Kama” a BCTMP unit utilizing birch chips was put into operation. This semi-product manufacture is uniquely as traditionally it is made of coniferous wood chips.
At the moment initial tuning of BCTMP department equipment is carried out. After that( it will take several weeks according to PPM press-service) paper-making machine will be adjusted and first lot of paper produced.
PPM “Kama” will manufacture up to 86 thous t of LWC. Investments in the production are estimated in the sum of 5,5 bln rubl.
Krasnokamsk project is totally oriented to Russian market: nobody produces coated paper in this country. Still in 2008 before the crisis domestic market capacity was 300 thous t, 150 thous t of which- LWC. According to “Investlesprom”( the owner of PPM “Kama”) analytics’ assessment the demand will grow annually by 15% and will reach 600 thous t by 2015.
