LLC “Vyatsk Plywood mill”

Vyatsk plywood mill is an absolutely new enterprise, its construction was implemented within large investment project of Investlesprom group in Kirov city. The project was realized in a tight cooperation with Kirov region administration and got the status of priority one in Provolzhsk federal district. The policy of regional authorities is directed towards application of profound processing of wood that is a priority trend at present time both on regional level and in Russia on the whole.

Vyatsk plywood mill construction, the largest in region, began in June 2007 and was completed as planned thanks to the actions of a whole team of professionals. The ceremonial opening was hels on December, 15. The first 100 m3 of big-size plywood were produced on November, 20, 2008, and in March 2009 laminated plywood output was started.

The plant is equipped by the most progressive high technology equipment of “Raute” firm (Finland) with a high automation level that guarantees a high level of productivity and quality of the product.

A scaled training was organized by Russian specialists together with representatives of foreign firms (producers of equipment) for workers to acquire skills of operating at the new equipment.

Ecology and certification

On May 24, 2010 Vyatsk plywood mill got the international FSC certificate SW-COC-004899. According to the received status the mill guarantees to its clients that at plywood production is uses high quality and legal origin wood; its harvesting is implemented taking into account all measures for forests’ biodiversity conservation. The certificate proves that the enterprise uses certified raw wood purchased at verified loggers and suppliers. Control system, introduced at VPM, permits to monitor the whole technological cycle of wood’s movement from allotment till finished product delivery to the consumer. The receipt of FSC certificate gives the possibility to deliver products to the global market in conditions of protecting barriers for forest products export to USA and EU countries.

CARB (California Air Resources Board) certificate, issued to VPM by technical research institute of Sweden, proves that its products comply with the requirements concerning formaldehyde emission indicated in the instruction of environment protection department under California government: § 93120 “Measures for volatile particles’ toxicity reduction to decrease formaldehyde emission from composite wood products”. As for plywood these standards regulate formaldehyde content in glue mixes.
