Il’inskii sawmill: joint search for ways out of difficult situation

On June, 8 at OJSC Il’inskii sawmill the representative meeting was held with the participation of all interested parties; the current situation was considered and mill’s perspectives were discussed.

The sawmilling at Il’inskii plant stopped in the middle of April. By the results of six months of this year 7.6 thous. cub. m. of sawn-timber were produced that is three times less than in similar last year’s period.
At present what is working at the enterprise is management, security and boiler’s personnel, the rest of the staff is on holiday and at stoppage with payment of two thirds of average wages. There is no indebtedness for the wages.
The main reason for sawmilling shutdown is deterioration of basic assets, outdated equipment. The plant cannot work in the current condition and equipment.

As it was noted by the first deputy Minister of Forest complex RK, Vladimir Matrosov, these problems – shortage of raw materials, outdated and deteriorated equipment – are characteristic for many other wood processing enterprises of the republic. For a range of sawmills they consider a reprofiling of their production platforms.

Ministry of forest complex of RK together with other interested ministries and departments the owner will continue the works for stabilization of the situation at Il’inskii sawmill. The next meeting is planned to be in two months.
