V. Pozgalev, Vologda region Governor: “Problems in Sokol can be solved by joint efforts”

Vologda region Governor, Vyatcheslav Pozgalev, signed regional government regulation asserting a long-term program “Complex modernization of Sokol city in Vologda region for 2010-2012”. The objective of the program is creation of conditions for ensuring sustainable economic growth and improvement of population’s quality of life.
The program
will be financed from federal and regional budgets. As a result of its implementation
by 2012 about 2 thousand new workplaces must be created, small enterprises’
share must increase in the economy of the city and the share of tumbledown and
wrecking housing resources must decrease. (...) At Sokol’skii PPM (Investlesprom group)a large project “Vologda
paper manufacture” is being prepared;
it will organize production of up to 600 thousand tons of high quality coated
paper per year. Among plans there is also an extension of production
capacities at Sokol’skii DOK, being also a part of Investlesprom.
“This program was developed for the purposes of efforts consolidation of both authorities
and business. The problems existing in Sokol city can be solved by joint
efforts of federal, regional, municipal authorities as well as by city-forming
enterprises’ owners. Production development will let to modernize city’s
engineering infrastructures, to create new workplaces and finally to form a
comfortable environment for population habitation”, - noted Vyatcheslav
