IVth regional forest forum took place in Arkhangelsk

Moscow. April, 15, 2010 ã. /Bumprom.ru/. On April, 8–9 IVth regional forest forum took place in Arkhangelsk; among participants there were chief of Federal Forestry Agency, A.I. Savinov, Arkhangelsk region authorities’ directors, representatives of regional municipalities, science institutions, forest business.
As informed one of the participants of the forum, vice-president, RAO Bumprom,
A.H. Boikov, the key reports touched issues of strategy and concrete
forms of cooperation of the region with forest industry companies, problems of
priority investment projects realization, efficient forest management, forest
relationships improvement.
To discuss forest use and conversion questions there were invited representatives
of forest holdings that plan in near future to make significant investments into
its production modernization and extension. The delegation that presented JSC “Ilim Group” was headed by general director,
Paul Herbert, JSC “Investlesprom” - by general director, Dmitrii Maslov.
The chief of Federal Forestry agency, A.I. Savinov noted that the authorities are
really ready to support large companies since today only they have a
possibility to construct forest roads and implement reforestation. The fundamental
significance is attributed to not simply logging and sawing but to profound
wood processing, wasteless production organization.
The Governor, Ilya Mikhal’chuk, supported the chief of Federal Forestry Agency
and declared that Arkhangelsk region is always open to investors. Besides he asked
companies, ready to invest into modernization, to prepare programs for
enterprises’ development so that the government of the region could assist
forest business development with maximum efficiency. “I personally will supervise
investment projects that are being realized on the territory of the region and I’m
ready to solve the questions not only at regional level but also to put them
before federal authorities, — the governor stated. — We are interested in
long-term investments into Forest Industry Complex. We need to avoid forestlands reselling
in favor of producers and converters. Cutting areas for such companies will be assigned
in the first place. They will have more than enough of forest”.
