Wood processing enterprises of Karelia increased sawn-timber production in 1Q 2010 as compared with the respective period of 2009 by 63 percent up to 146 thous. cub.m. These figures show that forest complex of the republic successfully copes with the consequences of the global economy crisis. According to the chief of Forest complex development department, Ministry of Karelian Forest complex, Roman Petukhov, good results are shown by many enterprises of the republic. So JSC “Medvezhiegosky LPH” and JSC “LDK Segezhsky” enterprises (part of Investlesprom) increased sawn-timber production respectively by 78 and 90 percent, JSC “Swedwood Karelia” — by 64,4 percent, CJSC “Solomencky LZ” — by more than one and a half times. Besides, logging increased up to 1,23 mln. cub. m. in 1Q. By the end of the last year logging enterprises were in a difficult situation but as the results of work in 2010 show, they find possibilities to gradually increase the pace of work and to exceed last year’s indicators. source gov.karelia.ru
