There are shifts in principle projects for Russia where we remain far behind global level. This is also light weight coated print paper production (“Investlesprom” project at PPM “Kama”).
Generally Investlesprom group should be mentioned in particular. This company that swiftly rushed into top echelons of pulp and paper establishment is financed by Bank of Moscow. It boldly declared about three capital intensive projects at once with a total volume of 2-3 mlrd. dollars. One of them aforementioned is close to completion. It is extremely important for Russia. As a matter of fact it will experience coated paper production technology. In other words this is purely creation of import replacing production. At present coated paper used at polygraphic complex “Pushkin square” (part of Investlesprom) is purchased in Europe.
Another project of “Investlesprom” is “Polar
Bear” project at Segezha PPM
with investments volume more than 1 mlrd. dollars. Here it is assumed to apply bleached
coniferous and deciduous pulp production and to increase enterprise’s
capacities up to 845 thous. tons.
In future Investlesprom is going to organize a production of wide range of
coated papers at the industrial platform of Sokol’sky PPM with 600 thous. tons per year. In essence this is a
greenfield-project which means on the basis of a small plant a new large mill
will be constructed. Specialists mention that this market is very perspective
and coated paper consumption volumes in Russia amount to 1 mln. tons generally
