Investlesprom invests into PPM “Kama” development 5.5 mlrd. rubles; as a result of the investments by autumn 2010 Kama will see the only light weight coated paper producer in Russia.
CJSC “Investlesprom” continues the realization of LWC-Kama investment program aimed at PPM “Kama” modernization. The program was launched with an objective to meet the demand for coated mechanical papers and to replace a part of import supplies of the similar products from Europe and Asia. New workshop construction was begun in Krasnokamsk about a year ago. Let’s remind that in autumn 2007 the management of Investlesprom group together with JSC “PPM “Kama” management initiated and developed the project of paper machine’s shift to LWC papers production. In April 2009 lwc paper successfully passed through print tests.
As a result PPM “Kama” will produce about 85 thous. tons of lwc paper
per year that exceeds Russian polygraphy needs in this product type by one
fourth. “The whole chain of existing production at the mill will be reconstructed
for light weight coated paper, — PPM “Kama” executive director, Investlesprom
Management Company, Grigory Bandovsky, told. — Technological process
includes three main stages: initial treatment of wood— woodyard that is
currently activated. The second stage — new workshop of thermo-mechanical pulp
where chips will be turned into semiproduct for the third production stage — papermaking
machine. Another feature of the new project is that birch wood will be used as
raw material for production instead of coniferous species as usual. This very forest
resource currently remains almost unclaimed by forest industry enterprises in
the region”.
Today Elena Guilyazova, acting as vice-premier of regional government, learned
about the course of project’s realization. According to her words all lwc paper
is now imported to country. “With the start of new production at PPM “Kama” Perm
region will take a considerable share of the domestic market”, — she believes.
