JSC “PPM “Kama”: Woodyard’s startup

Woodyard construction is completed at JSC “PPM “Kama” (Krasnokamsk city, Perm’ region) – this is the first starting object of «LWC-KAMA» reconstruction project

On March, 18 woodyard startup took place at JSC “PPM “Kama”.

Since the day of the first foundation pile of the new workshop it passed a bit more than a year.  At the end of the last year workshop’s body was built, main equipment was installed, mounting of intrashop conveyers and separate secondary units of equipment was completed.

And now the startup of new workshop. According to project new production unites functions of log storage with wood acceptance and warehousing, the culling of nonstandard wood, debarking and chipping, creation of mobile depository of ready chips and its transportation for processing into the new workshop of bleached thermo-mechanical pulp production (BTMP workshop).

According to assertion of technical development director, PPI Division, Investlesprom group, Sergey Malkov, the peculiarity of woodyard at PPM “Kama” is its uniqueness for pulp and paper industry of Russia. Here for the first time in Russian PPI modern ecology equipment of RotoBarker type was installed there it permits to conduct debarking in any conditions without using steam or water. Production and all processes’ control are fully automated.

Future workers of the new workshop were trained at the end of the last year to learn new technology of chips production, peculiar properties of the structure and principle of operation of every unit of equipment. Different work variations along with workshop’s consumption capacity growth - BTMP.

 

Our reference. In autumn 2007 Investlesprom group management together with JSC “PPM Kama” management initiated and developed a project of PM #7 switch to LWC papers production. JSC Investlesprom invests to the “LWC-Kama” project more than 5,5  mlrd. rubles.

Thisis the first project of LWC papers production in Russia. It is directed towards meeting coated mechanical papers demand and replacement of the majority import supplies of the similar paper from Europe and Asia.

The active phase of “LWC-Kama” project realization connected with installment of new equipment necessary for LWC paper production began on July, 1 2009. Construction completion at PPM “Kama” platform and full application of capacities is planned for 2010. PPM “Kama” will produce about 85 000 tons of LWC papers per year that means one fourth higher than Russian polygraphy needs in paper of this quality and which really competes with import analogues. At that, selling price for PPM “Kama”’s paper will be lower than for imported papers of the similar quality.
