About infrastructure development for Wood Industry Complex and perspectives of private capital involvement into forest road construction at the pages of the “PZHD-Partner” magazine by Fedor Grabar, “Forest Resources” division director, CJSC Investlesprom

On December, 8 paper production is recommenced at JSC Segezha PPM. Two weeks closedown was determined by significant paper resources in store and lack of orders. During the closedown maintenance repairs were implemented. At the same time machine-building companies’ specialists were allowed to take measurements at the stopped equipment for the purposes of further PM#9 modernization project.

JSC «Investlesprom» received the FSC certificate SGS-COC-005440 (of forest products delivery chain from producer to consumer) for the term of five years (till November of 2013). The Certificate was issued to the forest industry holding by the certification center «SGS East» according to the results of the primary audit conducted in November.

On November, 28 in Petrozavodsk the Prime-minister of RK government P. Chernov had a work meeting with Investlesprom holding managers. The purpose of the meeting was the concordance of the joint anti-crisis activities at enterprises of the holding situated in Karelia, first of all at OJSC Segezha PPM

On November, 20 the first big-size plywood output (100 cub.m.) was produced at Vyatsky plywood mill (VPM).
VPM construction – one of the largest plywood mills at Kirov region territory – was implemented within realization of JSC “Investlesprom” investment project and was financed by Bank of Moscow in close cooperation with Kirov region Administration. Total value of the project is 3 milliard rubles.

On November, 24 2008 paper production at Segezha PPM was stopped for ten days approximately. The closedown is determined by significant reserves of paper at warehouse and temporary absence of sufficient quantity of product purchase orders. However at Segezha PPM this closedown is considered as one of the anti-crisis measures.

On November, 19 2008 in Moscow there were held negotiations between CJSC “Investlesprom” “Sacks” division management and largest regional representatives. The main principles of cooperation were outlined and are expected to be detailed on December 10–11 in Segezha (Republic of Karelia), at the annual meeting of dealers with LLC “Segezhskaya Upakovka” directors (a part of Segezha Packaging company).
About 40 exclusive representatives of Segezha Packaging from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Tallinn, Minsk, Novosibirsk, Rostov and other CIS cities were invited to the December meeting in Segezha. The President of Segezha Packaging, Peter Buckley, will take part in the forum’s work.
During the meeting it is planned to discuss the results of 2008 and plans for the future. The directors of Segezha Packaging enterprises will show production modernization results, will tell about introduction of new kinds of product, sack weight reduction while package’s reliability increased. 

    Pulp and Paper enterprises of JSC “Investlesprom” presented their products at the 10^th International exhibition PAP-FOR in Saint-Petersburg.
    Participation is the most considerable forum of pulp and paper industry is a long-standing tradition for enterprises of Investlesprom. However for the first time the whole Pulp & Paper Industry (PPI) division was simultaneously presented at the stand within Pap-For exhibition (namely OJSC “PPM “Kama”, JSC “Segezha PPM” and JSC “Sokolsky PPM”) under single mark of the holding.

High-quality wooden construction is always associated with high-quality timber and quality construction. However, in recent years has become more urgent environmental factor housing. Despite the general crisis in the West is booming "green" house-building (Green Building). Consumers want to live in a house that is free of chemical pollutants, conserving heat, built from the legal origin of wood, not originate from protected areas. Requirements for green housing rather rigid and imply that all materials used in construction, have a known origin and possess a certificate of compliance with hygiene and environmental standards. November 14 in the exhibition "Wooden Houses" for the first time in Russia held a roundtable on the use of wooden construction timber, having an international certificate of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). The round table provides information on the latest trends in "green" housing, talked about the development of voluntary forest certification in Russia and worldwide, shows significant differences between the certified forest from non-certified. Also, participants with an wood house of the leading domestic manufacturer - company "NLC House Building (part of the holding), which in October. she has undergone the certification assessment, forest management (forest management in the timber company OAO Kipelovo and certification of the chain in the house-building plant JSC "Sokol DOC") and expects a decision on handing over the Certificate FSC.
