18, 2010 in RSPP’s conference room at the Old square a joint meeting was held by
working group of legal standard and customs tariff regulation of Forest complex
development Council under Russian Federation Government and Forestry and Forest

During the period of summer holidays, starting with 1, June, more than 80 workers of Segezha PPM will restore their health in rest homes and sanatoriums on preferential terms – mainly at the Black Sea. Last year only 73 workers of the mill managed to use this opportunity. Besides, 50 children whose parents work at the mill will rest in a health-improving camp on the Black Sea coast in august.

5 the Head of Republic of Karelia, Sergey Katanandov held a work meeting with
general director, JSC Investlesprom, Dmitrii Maslov. Prime-minister of Karelian
Government, Pavel Chernov, also took part in the meeting. The parties discussed
the course of implementation in 2010 of Social and economic partnership agreement
with one of the largest enterprise of the republic – Segezha pulp and paper mill, that today is a part of Investlesprom.

assessment would you give to everything that has been done in the region for investments
attraction and production development for the last year – year and a half?
This period was not the best time for investments attraction due to crisis when
investment activity slumps. Nevertheless even taking into account the crisis we
can say that key investors were found for some projects. One of the projects – coated paper production project at Kamsk
pulp and paper mill, investor is Investlesprom. First workshop has already
been put into operation. We count for the whole cycle start-up of this
production this year in November. PPM is able to output 80 thous. tons of light
coated paper per year. This is the first project for this kind of paper production
in Russia. The total investments volume will amount to 5.5 mlrd rubles. We are discussing
with the investor the possibility to expand the territory of Kamsk PPM with the
aim for second turn construction …

Representatives of the mono-cities modernization workgroup under Russian Government with its chief, Irina Makieva, at the head visited Sokol on April, 26. The objective of the visit was to get acquainted on the spot with the readiness of the city and three city-forming enterprises to start the realization of scaled investment projects and to specify necessary financing volumes for that from the side of the government. Sokol is among 27 pilot mono-cities that will get an extra assistance from federal budget.

One thing — a nice presentation of complex plan for Sokol modernization, even if with clearly prescribed projects and adjusted figures, it’s quite another matter to see it by one’s own eyes. So the chief of the workgroup, deputy chairman of Vnesheconombank, Irina Makieva, was taken first there where all presented investment projects will be brought to life – to city-forming enterprises – Sokol’sky (…) PPM and Sokol’sky DOK (part of Investlesprom group of companies).
The Government of Karelia examined the readiness to fire risk season in forests of the republic. On April, 30, Karelian Government Committee meeting was held for prevention and elimination of extraordinary situations and for fire safety ensuring. The Committee passed under the chairmanship of Prime-minister of the republic, Pavel Chernov. The main question considered at the meeting of the Committee became the readiness for fire risk season 2010 in the forests at the territory of the republic.
(…) In the areas of leased forest lands forest fires extinguishing will be made by its tenants. Their equipment with fire-extinguishing means is close to established standards. The work of fire-prevention teams of forest industry enterprises was analyzed by the example of LLC “SLZK” activity. This company works in four regions of the republic and everywhere has fire-prevention teams, equipment and there is cooperation with republican fire-prevention services.
